‘Acronym’. 1981

This is an attempt to make a three-dimensional crossword visual poem painted on a flat surface (canvas). The idea was to place letters in a block form so that they would read as words when seen from different directions. Even though I found this to be impossible, I found and used some unusual and beautiful words, and I found painting the illusion of lose fabric very satisfying.

Synesthesia is defned as a neurological condition in which information meant to stimulate one of your senses stimulates several of your senses. People are usually born with the condition, but some people develop it later. Researchers are still unsure about how common synesthesia is. One 2006 study proposed that it occurs in 2 to 4 percent of the population.
